Shawna Travers
President
Shawna Travers the current President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Commission of Young Liberals was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland on April 14, 1976.  Shawna was raised in Lark Harbour in the beautiful Bay of Islands on Newfoundland's west coast.  She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in May 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts (political science major) and a certificate in Public Administration.  She is employed in Corner Brook and currently
resides in Lark Harbour on Newfoundland's west coast.

Shawna became a Young Liberal in 1996 because she felt that the ideals, philosophy and purpose of the Liberal Party best matched her own.  She believes the key to continued success of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador is through the Young Liberals.  Shawna feels that ultimately the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador will benefit from the youth that will someday have the ability and knowledge to lead the Liberal Party and form the Provincial
Government.

Doug Twining
Vice President
Doug Twining, the V.P. of YLNL is a 24 year old graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, with a major in Political Science and a Minor in History.  Born in Oromocto New Brunswick, Doug feels that his  involvement with the Young Liberals of Newfoundland & Labrador, and the Young Liberals of Canada, have given him an opportunity to work for a cause,
and a group of people he believes in.

“I've attended numerous Liberal conferences from Biennials, to Provincial AGM's, to Atlantic Caucus's to, Youth AGM's I always leave with a good feeling, knowing that the work we did will, in some way, effect the future of all Canadians.  I enjoy meeting Canadians from all corners of our country and coming together with youth who have a strong interest in the betterment of our society.  I would not trade my Young Liberal experience for anything.”

Doug presently works in the tourism industry, and aspires for a diplomatic career within the Foreign Service.  He believes that youth should be respected, and should be given the opportunity to display their talents within this political framework.  “Get involved, make a difference, you'll be surprised by what you can do!”
